August 20, 2010 — Kara Suffredini, an attorney with extensive experience running statewide advocacy campaigns, has been named the new executive director of MassEquality, which works to protect, promote and defend marriage equality and to advance lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender rights.

In addition to promoting a full equality agenda in Massachusetts, MassEquality, based in Boston, also supports other states in winning marriage equality.

Most recently the director of public policy and community engagement for the Family Equality Council (FEC), Suffredini is not new to the LGBT movement. At the FEC, she designed advocacy campaigns around legal and policy initiatives impacting LGBT families at the local, state, and federal level.
