Stand With Transgender Troops and Veterans

Dear Equality Supporter,

Like you, and thousands of LGBTQ people and allies across the nation, I was shocked and appalled when I read yesterday's tweets from President Trump banning transgender people from serving in the U.S. military. This disturbing and unwarranted attack on thousands of transgender military personnel, reservists and veterans is simply unacceptable, and it violates our fundamental American values of fairness, equality and justice for all.

While the President's tweets can be seen as an attempt to distract the media and the public from other important issues, they still have a real impact on the 15,000 transgender Americans who have risked their lives to defend our country. They also amplify the message that we've been hearing more and more in recent months: Transgender people, and their basic human rights, are under attack.

This is just the latest in an increasing number of legislative and policy changes introduced across the country targeting transgender people. Even here in Massachusetts, long known as a leading progressive state, anti-LGBTQ activists are working to roll back transgender rights—and it's time to fight back.

MassEquality has worked hard for many years to successfully pass laws and gain important legal and policy protections for transgender people in Massachusetts. And now more than ever, we're committed to the fight for full equality for all. But we need your help to defend transgender rights and fight back against anti-LGBTQ bigotry and hate. Please join us in support of transgender people, both here in Massachusetts and across the country:

  1. Contact the White House today and let them know that you oppose the President's ban on transgender people serving openly in the U.S. military. Our friends at the National Center for Transgender Equality will send your message directly to the Trump administration. You can also send an email to the President through the White House's online form, or call the White House and leave a comment at 202-456-1111. The White House TTY/TTD comment line number is 202-456-6213.
  2. Your generous gift, in any amount, will help us keep fighting strong against the opponents of fairness and equality. With your support, we can defeat these anti-transgender and anti-LGBTQ attacks and protect the rights of everyone in Massachusetts to live free from discrimination. Please give online today, or mail your check to at the address shown at the bottom of this email.

Thank you for taking action today—together we will fight for full transgender equality and win!
