(WEST ROXBURY) – Secretary of Veterans Affairs Robert A. McDonald participated in a stakeholder engagement session regarding veteran services recently at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center. Secretary McDonald visited the Commonwealth and also spoke at Massachusetts General Hospital as part of an effort to recruit future nurses, doctors, and clinicians to fill roles at service locations nationwide. The visit and stakeholder engagement session follows the recent completion of town halls at VA facilities in other areas of the country.

On June 20, 2014, the Patrick Administration announced reforms to health coverage policies to ensure that transgender Massachusetts residents have full access to treatments they need. On the same day, the Division of Insurance issued a bulletin that bars private health insurers from excluding medically necessary care for gender dysphoria from private health insurance plans.
